Winsor & Newton Watercolor Paint — Best Practices for Intimate Body Printing
These watercolors are high-quality artist paints that are generally considered low-hazard for external skin when used as intended. In Yoni Print sessions, they can be a beautiful way to express creativity and connection.
Because the vulva includes both regular skin and more sensitive mucosal tissue, we encourage mindful, informed, and gentle application.
Where the Paint Is Safest to Use
These areas have skin similar to the rest of the body and usually tolerate watercolor well:
- Hips
- Thighs
- Belly
- Buttocks
- Mons pubis (the soft mound above the vulva)
- Outer labia (labia majora)
These are great places to explore color, texture, and gesture.
Inner Vulvar Tissue (Labia Minora + Clitoral Hood)
These areas are more sensitive and more absorbent. The paint is not designed specifically for mucosal membranes, so awareness matters.
Here’s the balanced truth:
- Occasional, brief contact during the printing process is not expected to cause harm for most people.
- The key is gentleness + short contact time.
- If you know you have vulvar sensitivity, yeast imbalance, or easily irritated tissue, you may prefer to keep paint to the outer labia and surrounding skin.
If you choose to paint the inner vulva or clitoral hood:
- Use minimal pressure
- Use less paint (a thin, soft layer instead of a thick coat)
- Keep the paint on only for the time needed to make your print (usually a few minutes)
- Rinse gently with warm water afterward (no scrubbing, no harsh soap)
This is about body sovereignty and informed choice, not restriction.
Avoid Internal Use
Do not place paint:
- Inside the vaginal canal
- Inside the urethra
- On open wounds, active irritation, or sores
This ensures the natural vaginal microbiome remains supported and balanced.
Patch Testing (Highly Recommended)
Before your Yoni Print session:
- Apply a small amount of diluted paint to your inner thigh.
- Let sit 10–15 minutes, then rinse.
- Observe for 24 hours.
If redness, itching, or irritation occurs, limit paint to less sensitive areas.
Aftercare Ritual
After completing your print:
- Rinse with warm water, letting it flow gently over the area
- Pat dry (don’t rub)
- Offer a soft, soothing balm if desired
- Honor your body’s response without judgment
